What is a well-woman exam?
A well-woman exam is an annual examination that ensures you are healthy with a particular focus on your sexual and reproductive health. It is also an opportunity to discuss any concerns or questions you have such as contraceptives, testing for STDs and STIs, or symptoms that may indicate a hormonal imbalance or a greater women’s health condition.
During your well-woman exam, we may also do preventive screenings for cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, breast cancer, and colorectal cancer to ensure optimal health and wellbeing. We will check for any underlying causes of your symptoms or concerns and prescribe effective treatment options that fit your lifestyle and needs.

Annual and Sports Physical
At University Place Medical Clinic, if you need a physical for any reason, we are here for you with our comprehensive exams for women, men, and children.
What are physicals?
Physicals are medical health assessments that you may need for a variety of reasons such as travel, work, school, or sports. They are important as they allow us to monitor your condition and wellbeing, but also identify any potential issues that may affect your health. Early detection allows us to begin treatment before the condition becomes more severe, giving a higher success rate of treatment.
You may need a physical before you go abroad or for work. Your child may need a physical for school, camp, or to participate in sports.
What happens during a physical?
The exact procedure will depend on what type of physical you are having. During the exam, we will review your medical and family history for any potential risk of health complications. If there are any concerns, additional health screenings may be required.
This is a great time to let us know of any concerns or questions you may have regarding your health.
A physical examination typically begins with the measurement of vital signs and responses before undergoing a more comprehensive examination of your condition and health.

Motor Vehicle Accidents
You’ve exchanged information with other drivers. You’ve seen the physician. You’ve filled out the forms and spoken to the insurance adjuster and made a plan to fix or replace your vehicle. You’ve attended to everyone else in the family. So why do you still feel so crummy?
Car accidents are shocking. Even if you can compartmentalize the trauma while you’re taking care of business, the physical and emotional scars often stay with you for a long time afterward. You may not begin to notice symptoms, in fact, until several days or even weeks after an injury. If that happens, even if it has been a while since your accident, it’s critical you see a treatment specialist.
At University Place Medical Clinic, we strive to help our patients live healthy, active, pain-free lives. If you are experiencing joint pain due to conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, tendonitis, gout, or bursitis, therapeutic joint injections can help! These minimally invasive injections deliver corticosteroids to the affected joint(s), which can dramatically reduce inflammation that leads to pain and immobility.
If you are experiencing joint pain and would like to explore your options with therapeutic joint injections, please call us at (253) 564-4157.
